Pastor Mark Elliott

Rev. Mark Elliott

Pastor Elliott was born Odessa, Texas, and raised in Irving, Texas. He attended St. John Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas, and then Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1980, with a major in religion and minor in English. He then earned a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, in 1984. He was ordained into the ministry on March 25, 1984. His vicarage was at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He has served as Pastor at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Kinde, Michigan (1984-86), Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton, Michigan (1986-88), Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Metairie, Louisiana (1988-92), Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Zion, Illinois (1992-97), Christ Family Lutheran Church in Mahomet, Illinois (1996-97), and St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign, Illinois (1997-present).

Pastor Elliott met his wife, Susan, at St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas, and they were married in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1977. Susan works in the College of Business at the University of Illinois. They have been blessed with four children - Christine (married to Matt), Paul (married to Krista), Peter (married to Valerie), and Sarah (married to Adam). They are also blessed with seven grandchildren (Ella, Elijah, Daniel, Adelaide, Magdalena, Jacob, and Isaiah).

Pastor Elliott enjoys reading, fishing, hunting, video games, and spending time with his family and friends.


Rev. Jeff Caithamer

Pastor Caithamer was born and raised in Orange, California. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Concordia University in Irvine, California in 2002. From there, he went on to obtain his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 2006. In August of that year, Pastor Caithamer was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry. His first call as parish pastor was to Light of the Valley Lutheran Church in Valley Center, California.

He served there for three years as pastor. In 2009 he was called to be associate pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign, Illinois, where he continues to serve.

In 2005, Pastor Caithamer married Katie in St. Louis, Missouri and they have been blessed with a daughter, Magdalen (Maggie) and a son Joshua (Josh). They love to go for walks around their neighborhood and to the park while accompanied by their miniature dachschund, Buddy. They also love visiting and spending time with family and friends. Pastor Caithamer enjoys reading, doing projects around the house, playing golf and tennis, and watching sports, TV shows, and movies.


Keith Williams

Keith Williams

Keith Williams has been Organist at St. John Lutheran Church since 2000, also serving as Choir Director since 2007, conducting the Alleluia Ringers, Men's Choir and Adult Mixed Choir, and coordinating with the school and youth choir directors in planning music with the Pastors for all Worship services at St. John.Keith also serves as Service Director at Buzard Pipe Organ Builders in Champaign, directing this nationally-known company's team of technicians in all aspects of their restoration, renovation, relocation, and pipe organ maintenance work.

Keith is a member and past Chapter Dean of the American Guild of Organists, as well as an active member of the The Organ Historical Society, the American Theater Organ Society, and the American Institute of Organbuilders.

Keith is a graduate of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, where he majored in organ performance.

Keith is also currently serving as President of the Board of Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana (BACH) an organization dedication to historically informed performances of the Music of Bach, Handel and other Baroque composers.

Keith and his wife Judith are the parents of four children.
